St. Louise de Marillac’s Religious Education
Program uses The Faith First series as its basic curriculum. This series
is in accordance with the Catechism of the Catholic Church and the
National Catechetical Directory.
Faith First is
divided into three parts:
Doctrine, Scripture, and The Liturgical Seasons.
Doctrine
The doctrines that are taught are drawn from the four pillars
of faith as presented in the Catechism of the Catholic Church.
- Creed
- Worship and Sacraments
- Morality
- Christian Prayer
Scripture
The Sacred Scriptures are the heart of Christian life and scripture stories are
included in every chapter on every grade level.
The Liturgical Seasons
In the Faith First series, the Liturgical Seasons are taught to their fullest in
separate strands. Learning about and celebrating the cycles of the liturgical
year helps children to enter into the Paschal Mystery.
